NEW MEMBERS & MONTHLY EVENTS

HUAN YING

Huan Ying Hospitality Program:

Huan Ying means, “Welcome” in Chinese. The American Women’s Club of Shanghai offers this program to welcome our new members to the club and Shanghai. We want to help all of our new members to transition easily into their new environment and make new friends. Each new member will be contacted by one of our Huan Ying Hospitality Hostesses that live in their compound or area. They will be able to answer questions and provide written information about the club and Shanghai. We will also offer a class, Culture Shock Shanghai, to help orient newcomers to Shanghai and the Chinese culture. There is a fee for this course. The dates for this course will be listed on the calendar page and in the Spirit magazine. If you have any questions about this program or you are interested in being a hostess for your compound, please contact huanying@awcshanghai.org. Please put Huan Ying in the subject line.

MEET & GREET COFFEE MORNING
Meet & Greet Coffee Morning every month for members and potential new members. The Meet & Greet is designed to welcome new people to Shanghai that have recently joined or are considering joining the AWC and to reconnect with old friends. If you know someone new to Shanghai please consider inviting them to the Meet & Greet. Consult our calendar for details of time and place.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AWCS members can volunteer with numerous and varied Shanghai community outreach groups.

COMMITTEES

Community Outreach Committee seeks out community outreach candidates and opportunities and coordinates the club's efforts in this matter; coordinates the continued sponsorship of two Shanghai Sunrise children; runs the annual Gift Giving Tree toy drive.

Meet and Greet Committee is responsible for organizing monthly coffees, held on the 3rd Wed. of each month, to welcome new and prospective new members.
Webmaster maintains the AWCS website hosted by FAWCO.

FAWCO Repreresentative - The American Women's Club of Shanghai is a member of the Federation of American Women's Club Overseas (FAWCO.)
Distribution manages the mailing and delivery of the monthly AWCS publication The Spirit.
Luncheons Committee is responsible for organizing the monthly luncheons for the entire membership of the AWC and their guests.
Special Events Committee selects and organizes events for the club's social gatherings for adults and families; examples include, but are not limited to, AWCforARTS, bazaars, balls, happy hours, etc.
