American Women's Club of Shanghai
Membership
The American Women's Club of Shanghai is always looking for new members. If you are interested in becoming a member or just want to get some information about our club, we offer a monthly Meet & Greet. This event usually takes place the first Wednesday of each month at The Four Season's Hotel Jazz 37 Lounge from 10a.m. - 12p.m. Please note this is a new venue effective May 2008. You do not need to be a member to attend. Further details can be found on the calendar page on the web site. This event includes information about membership and upcoming activities and events. It is also a great way to meet new friends.
Note that Meet & Greets are not held in the summer. Instead we have weekly summer coffee mornings. Please see the calendar for details.
**Notice:
Effective June 1st, 2008 for the coming year our membership dues will be raised to 300 RMB for the whole year. This is for new memebrers and starting June 1st we will start accepting renewals for the 2008-2009 membership year. With the rising costs in Shanghai, we need to raise our membership dues in order to be able to provide the events and activities that you, our members have come to expect. We will be adding more events this year.
All Dues are used to:
1) Pay FAWCO Dues, (Federation of American Women's Club Overseas) including website fees
2) Pay for the printing of the Member Directory and Supplement
3) Pay for the printing of Membership Cards
4) Fully Subsidize Membership Day in the Fall (September Meet & Greet)
5) Partially subsidize all other Meet and Greet mornings at the Four Seasons Hotel
6) Partially subsidize our Christmas, Thanksgiving and Volunteer Luncheons
7) Partially subsidize venues for our activities
*Subsidizing helps keep the costs down for our members
Below is information about the membership process:
1. You can print an application and bring it with you to a sign up event, or we will provide them. Sign up events are listed on the Membership page and Calendar page.
2. Membership Fee is 300RMB and covers from Sept. 2008- August 31 ,2009
3. Please bring your passport or a copy with you. We accept US and foreign passports. We are not able to accept China passports.
4. You will receive a membership card and number once you have completed your membership.
5. Your membership is a family membership.
6. Renewing members do not need to fill out an application unless their information has changed from last year.
7. For all new members and renewing members, if you have not paid your dues before the end of October 2008, you will not be included in the club directory.
8. Please note you are not considered a member until you have paid your membership fees snd shown your passport.
If you cannot attend the Meet & Greet and wish to join, please contact one of the Membership VP’s, and they can take care of your membership.

Once you have completed the membership process, you will be entered into our database. You will then begin to receive the monthly magazine, The Spirit, and you will be placed on our Google list. This will provide you with important information and dates through email. If you become a member after the 20th of the month, you will not receive your Spirit magazine until the month after next.
